insight from four year old ears

We have a family white board upstairs in between the kid's rooms where we post a memory verse and attitudes we're working on. The family focus for Spring reads, "See the positive, hope for the best, smile at Jesus, and no careless words."

Our memory verse for Spring is from Romans 8.28-29: "I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present, the past, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus." I write it out in segments with a picture by each line to help our preliterate daughter.

Dear Keona can't read yet but she has a great memory and a vivid imagination. She memorized this scripture quickly, with one noteworthy edit that I hear every morning during her devotions: "I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the president, nor the past, nor any powers...."

Yes, I plan on correcting it...soon-ish. But until then--as we round the bend in this election year-- I'll keep enjoying the truth in her four-year old words, I'll continue praying for the leadership in our nation, and I'll keep smiling at Jesus.

I love that scripture. Right now I am working on Colossians 3:15-17.

This morning I wrote about my man and his gracious capacity for loving me and how his love mirrors the love that my heavenly Father has for me.

We've walked a difficult road, but through it all, my husband's love has been enough to land us both on the other side of agapao. Deep loving...an Ephesians 5:25 kind of love. An embrace that resembles the embrace of my God.

Peace to you and your sweet family. I pray that God is giving you the wisdom and the time that you need to write your new book!

I'm dying to see what picture you draw next to "neither angels nor demons." My mind is racing with possibilities of what the sketch must look like. ;)

Beautiful :)

Nothing in this world is as insightful or entertaining as a pre-schooler's interpretations of life. I remember when my oldest son (now 18) sang Bible songs:

"Joshua at the Battle of Cherry Coke!" was a favorite.

Ahhh, good times.

In 2nd grade my teacher's name was Mr. Kreitz. I thought her name was Mrs. Christ and assumed she was Jesus' sister. That assumption kept me pretty good in class--I figured that if I acted up she would tell her brother (er...Brother). The day she actually wrote her name on the board I almost corrected her. I started to say, "but that's not how he spells his name"...then it hit me! She really wasn't Jesus' sister. :)
