use your mom-imagination

It happened.

I knew it would but somehow thought it would wait a year or two.

Listening to baby Louie on the monitor I heard Keona come into his room. I heard them laugh and play. Then all went silent.

"How sweet," I thought, "She must have helped him fall asleep."

Then came the voice calling excitedly up the stairs: "MOM! I did it!" said 4.5 year old Keona.

"Did what love," I said calmly.

"I just changed Louie's diaper for the FIRST TIME all by myself!"

Yes, use your imagination!

That is awesome in ways that words can barely express.

My kids just came running in from the other room -- "Mom, what are you laughing so hard about?" This is priceless. (My funny recent quote: Colin, almost 6: "Mom, what does it mean when someone calls a grown-up lady 'hot'?" I cleared my throat and said, "Um, it means they think she's really pretty." The next morning we were snuggling when he reached up, touched my face, and said "My sweet, hot mama.") :)

Yuck!

I just started reading your blog. I watched your "Choices" videos years ago in my Chi Alpha bible study. When I was on staff with XA, my husband & I discussed international students over lunch with your husband at Reach the U. And I was sad to miss your recent visit to New England, but I have a young baby myself.

Keep writing. I enjoy what I've read so far :)
