weekend snapshots and jona's heart

Friday night I had the joy of sharing at the James River Women's Rally. I was so moved throughout the conference by their inspiring combination of beauty and substance, creativity and strength.

Their theme was "Set Free" and on Wednesday night before the conference I knew I needed to shelf my intended message and instead share "6 destiny-shaping questions." I pray it was a blessing to those incredible women!

Saturday and Sunday we were on the road participating in a missions convention. Our kids LOVE roadtrips of every kind. Keona is "pack-it" girl, Louie's just thrilled to be with everyone, and Jonathan can't wait to see new radio/tv/cell/water towers...

We stayed in a comfy guesthouse and our host had cows and chickens. Sunday morning I told Jonathan that Mr. Don had said he could go look at the baby calves. Jonathan said, "Oh, thank you, but I don't think I was born to take care of animals. I think I was born to feed the poor."

Truly, that is the concern that pulls at him each day.

"Father God, help me be more like my son."

I was blessed to be in attendance Friday night. Not knowing what to expect, I was somewhat guarded when I arrived. The size of the church...the amount in attendance...would I feel like a pebble at the bottom of the ocean...

Then we sang. My heart sang... my 3-job-working, exhausted to my core soul sang!!

Then you spoke. I have told many since Friday night that I could FEEL GOD in the room that night, and I could hear him so clearly through your words.

I will no longer live in fear.
I will no longer doubt that God's plan for me IS FREEDOM.

Thank you.... for so many things. I wouldn't know where to begin, so I will just end with being proud to be your sister.

I lead a women's Bible study at my church and we just finished your Until the Whole World Knows study, so I was thrilled to get to hear you speak in person at JRA. God was so very present in that place.

And your son... what a tender spirit he has! I pray daily that my 4.5 year old will continue growing into a man full of compassion for people and an unquenchable thirst for God!

Great website too... like the updated look.

Thanks for everything you do, Alicia, and for letting the Lord use you to bless others.
