road trip, day five
What a fabulous day! Today, history came to life courtesy of Disney DVDs.
Today we took the bus to Times Square (a scene in Enchanted), saw Balto (a scene in Balto) in Central Park, took a ride in the bicycle carriages, then the girls went off to see Mary Poppins (Disney again) and the boys went to the American Museum of Natural History (from Night at the Museum). Afterwards we walked to the Empire State building, ate, then took a taxi back to the bus station because Jonathan was developing a headache.
Highlights today including watching my mom and daughter enjoy their first Broadway show. It was excellent and mom and I both cried with joy. Keona's highlight was riding the bicycle cart. She wants to build a cart to put on her bicycle and carry her horses. Jona was thrilled to see Times Square and spent a considerable amount of time video taping the manholes and sidewalk air vents.
Lowlights included Jonathan's headache, Louie's leaky diaper (yes, he was strapped to me in the baby carrier at the time), and my upset (code for "I was sicker than a DOG!") tummy (perhaps I'll pass on the Norwegian Salmon sandwiches next time).
Quotes of the day:
(at our hotel breakfast table) "I think rubber is made from boiled eggs." Jona
(after Jonathan volunteered to get Granny a Granny Smith apple) "Mommy, can I give you a Mommy Smith apple?" Keona
