adorable

The game of choice in the Chole home currently is Uno. Jonathan and Keona play it each morning during breakfast. We all play during lunch and then again right before bedtime.

Miss Keona manufactures +4's and +2's. Actually that was literally true at first until we explained what "stacking the deck" meant and how, though clever, the skill was not a virtue. "Oh!," she said, "I didn't know. I just LIKE those cards!"

But even fair and square the child has a surplus of these cards in her hand. We do have warning however. As she picks up each dealt card, she makes a sound. Whoever is sitting next to her starts hoping for a reverse card whenever they hear Keona gasp loudly and chuckle.

Bear and I could barely keep it together last night. The hand went something like this:

Jona: red 8
Keona: red skip mommy
Daddy: yellow skip Jona
Keona: yellow +2
Mommy: (takes 2)
Daddy: yellow 7
Jona: yellow 3
Keona: wild +4
Mommy: (takes 4, emits a Charlie Brown "Ugh!", turns to Keona and says with a smile, "You are a toot!")
Keona: (laughing says, "No, I am ADORABLE!!!"

And indeed, she is.

Hmmm...I think she had the same hand last time I played with her. Aren't those odds remarkable? : )

my amelia said the most precious thing last night. I've blogged about it today. If you get the chance, I think you would enjoy her take on "The Glorious Wonderful of a Heart's Break." I hope the writing is going well. Been praying and been getting geared up for the 9th. We're 50 women and counting, and there is so much excitement for the study. I've been working on bookmarks and a table display. I'll send you pic's once finished.

Out of the mouths of babes comes, so often, that which summons our greatest joy.

Simple times. Simple endeavors. Eternal impact.

Bless you,
Kathleen

That's adorable! We have had many a good round of Uno with our girls over the years!

I found out about you through Elaine - I finished "Anonymous" a couple of weeks ago.

OH. MY. WORD.

It spoke deep to my soul. I'm in the process of sharing with, oh, just about everyone I know. :o)
Thank you, thank you, for your obedience in writing it, as I know how deep the impact, not only for me, but for all those into whose hands it will fall within my realm of influence.

Blessings to you this night,
Melinda
