questions we often receive
What are alicia britt chole's (and truthportrait's) primary values?
Truth, intimacy, and accountability.
What kinds of events does alicia britt chole speak at?
Alicia speaks in a variety of contexts: leadership gatherings, training seminars, college conferences and chapels, women’s retreats, missions conventions, and church services.
Can you give me a few ideas for conference/retreat themes for alicia’s messages?
i. Are we there yet?! or Hidden ID or Be still and grow (3-4 sessions on discovering the riches of uncelebrated seasons based on anonymous: Jesus’ hidden years and yours
ii. Raw life and a near God (3-4 sessions that bring healing and hope in the midst of spiritual disappointment with God, ourselves, and each other based on real life, real pain, and a real God
iii. 10 destiny-shaping questions (1-3 sessions on several penetrating questions. Informal, conversational, humorous, but piercing.)
iv. Growing Together (2-4 sessions on healthy, intentional relational investment based on the making of a mentor
v. Choices: to be or not to be a woman of God (3-4 sessions on choices facing women in the 21st century based on the series choices
What is her preference regarding the number of sessions she speaks?
She enjoys developing a message, so conferences with three or four, 45 minute sessions are ideal. But she flexes with the theme and schedule of each event.
Does she have a set honorarium?
Not at this time. Neither the honorarium nor the anticipated attendance is the deciding factor for the Choles. Hosts often ask if there is a general range. In 2008, the majority of Alicia’s speaking honorariums ranged from $1500 to $3000. A few were able to give much more, a few were able to give much less…The board considers each invitation in light of its unique purpose and participants.
We’re uncertain about the costs, should we still issue an invitation?
Certainly. Just fill out the form based on your known budget. Alicia prayerfully considers all invitations. She does not base her "yes" or "no" upon financial arrangements.
Does she sing?
To her children…at night…softly.
How does she decide which engagements to accept?
Prayerfully, with her husband and board, Alicia considers every invitation she receives. During this season she is prioritizing events that bring the diverse Body of Christ together in unity and/or emphasize equipping leadership. She also accepts several local church invitations annually.
How long can she stay?
Alicia prefers to only spend one or two nights away from home for a conference.
How far in advance do I need to finalize an invitation?
Normally 12-24 months in advance depending on what month you are planning your event. September and October fill up fast and some patient folks have waited three years for those months.
I heard Alicia speak at a women’s conference. Does she only speak to women?
Alicia is often invited to speak to gatherings of both men and women. Her messages are for all followers of Jesus and she is well received by young and not-so-young, male and female, country and country-club, high-tech and antique, hip and hick...Whatever the demographics, people say that Alicia's messages inspire them to think, laugh, and cry (in that order).
We’d like to put a basket in Alicia’s room. Does she have any preferences?
Alicia is rather granola in her basket preferences. She enjoys earthy lotions and soaps, water (soda makes her nose tickle) and organic hot tea, fruit and nuts, cheese and crackers…she loves the smell of coffee but doesn’t enjoy its taste and (don’t faint) she thinks chocolate tastes like chalk.
Does Alicia have any special dietary needs? We’ll be taking her out to eat.
Alicia is a Rice Milk girl, not a choice dictated by her taste buds but by the unfortunate fact that lactose makes her blow up like the Goodyear blimp. Other than that she eats anything that’s not moving. She loves ethnic restaurants and anything unusual or unique to a region. Since she’s Mexican (and her mom cooks the most amazing Mexican food on the planet) it’s best to skip any Mexican restaurant attempts…but she loves everything from Cajun to Middle Eastern.
Does she like to have water when she’s speaking?
A glass of warm water or hot tea would be wonderful.
